Applichat Labs Featured in Manychat Case Study: 2X Nursing Applications for Humber River Hospital

June 19, 2020 · 1 min read · Applichat Labs

Applichat Labs is proud to be featured in a Manychat case study highlighting our Chat Marketing recruitment work with Humber River Hospital — North America’s first fully digital hospital, based in Toronto, Ontario.

Facing Canada’s nursing shortage and fierce competition for ICU talent, Humber River Hospital had been relying on job boards, where a single text ad struggled to stand out and delivered a low return on a high cost. When the local pool ran thin, the fallback was agency hires at roughly $15,000 each.

The approach

Adam Chambers, founder of Applichat, and the team redesigned the hospital’s lead-generation process around a targeted Chat Marketing campaign:

  • One focused channel. Instead of job boards and pay-per-click ads, the campaign concentrated on Facebook, where the candidates were already active.
  • Precise targeting. Facebook ads were targeted by location and interests to reach ICU nurses with the exact skills the unit needed, speaking to real pain points — continued education, less administrative work, and innovative technology.
  • Click-to-Messenger ads. Clicking an ad opened a Messenger conversation with the hospital, lifting engagement and conversions.
  • Automated pre-qualification. Candidates answered a short series of questions in Messenger, routing ICU-experienced nurses straight to interview scheduling, acute-care nurses into further qualification, and everyone else into a “Refer-a-Friend” path — before handing pre-qualified candidates to a recruiter for live chat.

The results

  • 58 applicants in 40 days
  • 2X increase in booked interviews
  • Potential savings of $10,000 per placement

By moving from job boards to an interactive, chat-based recruiting system, Humber River Hospital built a faster, more cost-effective way to reach and qualify the ICU nurses it needed.
