Inclusivity
Guided by Intersectionality: At Applichat, we recognize that true inclusivity means honoring intersecting identities and actively seeking individuals with diverse cultural, gender, age, and ability backgrounds. Our team reflects this commitment, with representation across gender identities, age ranges, races, nationalities, 2SLGBTQIA+ identities, and disabilities. Diverse lived experiences are essential in our recruitment process and in sourcing consultants for projects, ensuring that our team is both inclusive and empathetic to community needs.
Our DEI Champion reviews policies at least quarterly to incorporate emerging best practices, and we engage the entire team regularly to gather feedback and foster an inclusive workplace culture.
Equity
Accessibility and Cultural Relevance: We approach every project with an equity-first mindset, ensuring that accessibility is a priority in design and communication. Our team is committed to accessibility standards, staying current with WCAG guidelines, and adapting our processes to better serve diverse communities. With a dedicated Community Champion for the Latino community and a Transcreation Manager (Spanish), we ensure our materials are culturally and linguistically tailored to reach and resonate with specific audiences. Additionally, we have a Community Champion for the IDD community, with several team members drawing on personal and professional experience in disability services.
Service
Partnerships with Impact: Our work with communities begins by listening—often through meetings, interviews, focus groups, and surveys—to ensure we understand their needs and priorities. We collaborate closely with communities on projects that span health, social services, and equity to suggest sustainable, appropriate solutions. To deepen our impact, our team members regularly participate in DEI training that aligns with our work and helps us better understand and address community needs. Our flexible remote structure also allows team members to volunteer locally, strengthening our connection to the communities we serve.
Well-being
A Commitment to the Public Good: As the public good agency, we choose projects that enhance the well-being of individuals and communities, with a focus on the public sector. Our commitment extends beyond project goals, supporting our team’s flexibility to engage in volunteer work that enriches both their lives and the communities around them. This holistic approach allows us to align our professional and personal values, continually contributing to a culture of well-being and service.
